The History Troupe is a heritage education provider. They deliver learning through heritage projects for schools, communities and businesses. They're made up of a diverse team of educators, historians and arts practitioners who produce work across a range of disciplines including workshops, exhibitions, performances and publications. The History Troupe’s aim is to widen participation in heritage, arts and culture through inspiring, informative, transformational and thought-provoking experiences.
In 2018, I did the artwork for all of their November events. Each event had a completely different theme so required its own individual style, whilst still adhering to a consistent brand for their 'The History Troupe Remembers' November Branding. I created a banner that could become a theme to tie each event flyer together and used a consistent typeface for the programming. This allowed each event to have it's own unique style whilst remaining true to the brand. This kind of design work provides challenges that as a designer, you have to adapt your working style in order to overcome them. The first challenge was to adapt previously designed logos (by Orchard Park Designs) to suit higher resolution images. This meant using Adobe Illustrator to Image Trace the original logo and then going over this version with a  fine eye for detail to edit and keep it accurate to the original design. An example of this can be seen in 'Run For The Line', the logo has been edited and turned into a vector so that it can be printed at a much higher resolution than before. I then had to design the flyer around the existing logo. The colours on the back of the programme are to match the Hull KR Rugby colours as this is a theme within the play.
'A Nation's Tribute' Provided a number of skills as it was a flyer for an event presented by The History Troupe, but also by Hessle Council. Each company had it's own requirements for the design and the flyer so my job was to liaise with both and use creative problem solving to come up with a high quality design that was accessible to its' target audience, met all the requirements and was still visually appealing.
